Creative Writing eBooks
Content: These books are fictional stories and they differ from book to book. These stories can be for both children and for adults.
Structure and Layout: It depends on the author, each author has his own way of writing to hook the reader to the story.
Format and style: There is no certain way of format because it depends on the author how he likes it to be and it consistently changes to create the effects of the story to get the reader to feel the environment the author is trying to create in the story.
Use of multimedia components: Yes, there are pictures sometimes animations with sound to help create the image he really sees. They can be cartooned or realistic, though depending on the ebook, whether they’re black and green background, or colored.
Navigation: There are two ways to navigate, one is that you scroll down which is more computer like, while the other is like flicking a page over giving the feel of an actual book.
Ease of use: it differ from eBook to eBook
Fitness for purpose: It varies from eBook to eBook.
Referencing Materials
Content: in reference materials, they are basically like encyclopedias. They are totally non-fictional, everything Is based on facts and science proof. It is basically for educational purposes.
Structure and Layout: The structure will be simple, readable to all and plain black text with white background.
Format and style: the font are in the standard format which are either “Arial” or “Times New Roman”, sometimes keywords or important words are typed in bold text for the reader to pick it up easily and certain names or annotations below images are in italic format to avoid confusing the reader mixing one topic with the other.
Use of media components: There are usually many pictures throughout the whole book, and videos with sounds are somewhat common to further explain the subject.
Navigation: Very easy to navigate through because it has all the topics mentioned in the index at the start that are hyperlinked to that specific page. It’s fast and simple.
Fitness of purpose: most of them do their purpose quite well, they are very informative and very scientific.
Children’s eBooks
Content: These are usually colorful and have basic language for all children to understand easily and enjoy it.
Structure and layout: the structure is simple for a child to read, simple paragraphs, simple language ad words used to keep the child entertained and attracted to all the different colors
Format and style: they are big and easy to read and are in standard fonts to avoid difficulty reading.
Use of multimedia components: Almost three quarters of the book are full of pictures to grab the child’s interest.
Navigation: there isn’t any because the children are usually looking at the pictures throughout the book and would like to start from the beginning.
Fitness for purpose: Most of them do as they are expected to do, like teaching children numbers, although some of them fail to get to the child as they fail to use the right words or pictures as they might be complicated for the child to understand.
